Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!

I have to give myself a brief shout out - I was featured as a Geek Girl Blogger this week over at SpyJournal

I've never been asked to do anything like that and it was a really cool experience. I made a little bit of a promise to write in my personal blog more often so here is my attempt!

I've been gathering my thoughts and I think I have some things I would like to write about so stay tuned - there might be some more posts coming in the near future.

But for now thank you to Tim Miller!

The Power of Twitter

Tuesday, October 21st, was a testament to the power of social media - Twitter to be more specific.

Lisa P. Maxwell (www.lisapmaxwell.com), the advertising/design/PR agency that I currently work for, created a pretty amazing new site. As part of the PR team it was my responsibility to try to get as much buzz going for the site as possible. I picked a few influential blogs that I thought might be interested in the little experiment we had going on. Little did I know that less than one hour after pitching (to Darren at www.problogger.net and David at www.darmano.typepad.com to be specific) Lisa P. Maxwell would be bombarded with chats, tweets and blog posts.

We were the #1 thing on Twitter (via www.twitscoop.com) - at least for a brief moment that we were able to screen capture and savor for as long as possible. It was all thanks to the kindness of people that I have never met before, and perhaps never will meet. They took the time to look at something, respond to it and pass it along.

As a brand new professional it really gives me faith in the future of the public relations industry. I got to see firsthand what can happen with the help of social media such as Twitter.

And it was amazing!

New to this...

Since blog is the new black, I thought I would jump on the bandwagon and record my life's happenings while I transition from recent college graduation to Chicago, IL resident to intern to hopefully a real-life full-time position.

A word of warning - I am not that interesting and therefore may lose interest in myself and my blogging adventures.

But if not, I plan on recording my insights as I a start a new life as a working girl in Chicago!
